The students of the Blaze Koneski Faculty of Philology react on the Microsoft project.
From June 3 till June 4, the “Vizija” conference will occur in Skopje on which, among other events, Microsoft will present the Macedonian version of Windows spelling check that provoked reaction of the Students’ Union at the Faculty of Philology in Skopje.
“What worries us the most is the way in which these versions are prepared. Microsoft and its’ representatives have not yet released any information on where the new version is being prepared and more importantly, who is preparing it and whether relevant institutions on Macedonian language and writing were consulted”, the Students’ Union release said.
The students point out: “We get the impression that Microsoft behaves frivolous and disregarding towards Macedonian language and writing, as well as towards the whole country”. They corroborate their observation whit the fact that this company uses “FYROM” instead of Republic of Macedonia and “FYR Macedonian” instead of Macedonian language.
The Students’ Union at the Faculty of Philology call out the responsible institutions to express their view about the Macedonian version of Windows or to strive for prevention of releasing this version.
