“Writer Varski and other stories” is the first literary work of Dushko
Goshevski, also known as Dule the Barbarian from Valandovo, which is
now available for download on the internet.
The book is licensed under the Creative Commons license; therefore everyone can download this work, copy and alter it, provided that the original author of the work is properly credited and the work is not used for commercial purposes.
With his work, Goshevski registered for the best prose debut competition “The New Ones: 2007” organized by the publishing house “Templum”, and entered the last selection phase for the main award. Most of the book’s contents are presented on his blog, where apart from stories and poetry, one can find thoughts and critiques on literature, art and music. The book has not been published yet, but the author is a “relentless optimist”.
“I have always wrote only about literature”, says Dushko Goshevski. “I don’t see any reason why this should not be the case now as well, and instead of my revolt and resignation, I would only like to express my pleasure and joy of having the opportunity to present my work. I hope that the upcoming young writers, to whom I also dedicate this book, will not go through what we are currently going through, we - the youth bombarded with kitsch, lack of talent and poor imagination, which is now trying to work under some kind of a glass bell which we think is protecting us from all of this.”
The book is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the largest and half of it is autobiographic. Here, the author describes the “magnificence and misery of a student’s life in the eyes of a provincial person” or “bumpkin” as he says. The second section consists of experimental texts grouped under the heading “Perpetuum mobile”. Next is “Like the thrillers” - a short parody of this genre. The fourth chapter is a mix of art and classic, whereas the fifth is “poetry ripped from the soul”. Click here to download the book.
