The adult readers in our country are skeptical regarding the Creative
Commons licenses. This is due to the insufficient familiarity with
modern media and the development of internet technology. The acceptance
of this type of license is usually characteristic for the younger
artists
– says one of the promoters of this license in our country, the theoretician Robert Alagjozovski.
The Creative Commons licenses enable internet promotion of the works and at the same time, protection of the works under certain conditions, and the visitors can download and use them according to the prescribed regulations.
Many countries in the world have long been convinced that the creative works which have not been digitalized are doomed, and the general public is not able to access works that are uncensored and convey a strong message.
The Macedonian version of the world famous license for copyright protection, www.cc.org.mk, that enables the expansion of free culture, was promoted almost a year ago. Photographs, books, films, sound recordings, blogs or other types of websites are all creative works. Alagjozovski emphasized that this license offers to the Macedonian artists the opportunity to promote themselves worldwide.
Unfortunately, our literature is still mostly locally promoted. It is as if the Macedonian writers want to be only known by the Macedonian audience. If they have the ambition to be known throughout the world, then “Creative Commons” is the right choice for them. Their literature will be read by many people, but they could gain a world reputation only if they have a quality work of art – explains Alagjozovski. On the other hand, the writers from the more mature generation are not familiar with the Creative Commons copyright protection system.
“I have never heard about it before. It is probably not promoted enough and approximated to us as authors. When I will be more familiar with the benefits of this license, I will have a position of my own – says the writer Vele Smilevski.
The first book of Aleks Bukarski - “People whose parachute doesn’t open” is one of the books published in electronic form under this license, as well as “Writer Varski and other stories” by Dushko Goshevski, the translations of the plays of William Shakespeare, made by Dragi Mihajlovski, the music of Ali Baba and Serafedin, the videos of the artists Sasha Stanishic and Filip Jovanovski, the photographs of Milena Stanishlevik, Stole Angelov and others. However, the 40 artists who have recently announced to do the same are by far a greater number.
