The Lazio Region (Italy) has launched the 2nd edition of the Award for the most outstanding action or initiative in the field of interoperability (iG 2.0 Award).

Submissions are welcome by the deadline of 16 September 2008. The iG 2.0 Award competition is organised within the framework of the European Summit on Interoperability in the iGovernment (ESIIG) whose goal is to share the current practices in the field of interoperability in public eGovernment at local, regional, national and European levels.

The Award is open to a wide spectrum of participants; from public authorities at local, regional, national and European levels to private sector stakeholders with expertise in the fields of ICT and Information Society.

The projects submitted will be evaluated by the ESIIG 2 Technical and Scientific Committee against the following criteria:

  • Innovativeness: The case must regard the current state of the art in the field of interoperability in the eGovernment, raise issues and propose innovative solutions.
  • Practical results: If the action has gone beyond the conceptualisation phase and if the planning has brought about a concrete practice experience.
  • Impact: If the action has been carried out at medium or large scale. A presentation of the evidence of the impact is required. It is important that the author refers to a long-term implementation of the action.
  • Transferability: The author should provide a detailed description of the aspects that may be applied to other geographical, cultural, administrative fields, as well as the elements that may facilitate or impede its application in those fields.

The list of finalists will be published on 1 October 2008 on the ESIIG website www.esiig2.it, and the Prize will be awarded during the 2nd European Summit on Interoperability in the iGovernment (ESIIG 2) to be held in Rome from 20 to 22 October 2008.
