Our people need more happiness, joy and love. We do not have a habit to give flowers with no particular reason. We give flowers only for 8th of March, Valentines Day, and rarely for birthdays, weddings or celebrations, said Georgia Filipovski, one of the founders of the first Internet flowershop in Macedonia, flowershop.com.mk. Using the site over a hundred Macedonians living abroad sent flowers to their loved ones, showing that they love them and think of them.

Georgia got the idea for Internet flowershop while he was a student at the Faculty of Electro-technics.
 
"As I was completing my studies, majority of the students prepared seminar papers on Internet and its advantages. So-called “dot.com” companies were hit in USA in the second half of the 20th century and now are hit in Macedonia. Besides, I like to give flowers to my loved ones", Geogia explained.

He added that the majority of the orders were from Macedonians living abroad giving flowers to their loved ones.

"Citizens of Kumanovo and Bitola are the biggest lovers and they give flowers to their wives and girlfriends. I remember an order by young man who lived in Australia for a few years. He wanted to make his mother happy. She was a patient at the Department of gynaecology at the State hospital. We delivered the flowers and after few days we received another e-mail from him expressing gratitude and explanation that the woman, when seeing that her son thinks about her, started to get better. We often receive orders from a foreigner who spent some time in Macedonia in peace corps and fell in love with Macedonian girl. No matter where he goes, he sends flowers to the girl. We have received the most interesting instructions on how to deliver a rose to the girl", said Filipovski.

Internet Flowershop performs three functions- Internet, fast mail service, and flowershop.

People just have to visit our web site to order flowers. On our e-mail address they state what kind of bouquet they want, the delivery address, and the payment is with credit card and in US dollars since the payment is realised via American company. When we receive the order we call the flowershop and the bouquet is delivered to any place in Macedonia with valid address, explained Filipovski.

He added that if people have some particular demands, they should send an e-mail few days earlier.

"If somebody wants us to deliver the flower to a particular destination in particular time or to order a bouquet which is not included in our offer, than he should write to us few days earlier. We have a contract with fast mail to try at least twice to deliver the flowers. We guarantee that we will deliver the bouquet within 24 hours", Georgia added

Apart from flowers, using flowershop.com.mk you can give box of chocolates, toys and various sorts of vines, and CDs and craftworks will be available in the future.
