If you enter www.msn.com.mk in your web browser, instead of Microsoft web site you will visit the Macedonian “web site” of the software giant. Majority of the articles are in bad and abstruse Macedonian.

The hole in Macedonian legislation allows misuse of the software giant’s brand name and the further deceiving of the Internet users. Microsoft denies connection with this web site, and MT-net, where the site is hosted, said that they cannot give information about the owner. On the web site you can notice the name Skender Yusufi, editor of msn.com.mk, who claims that he is the owner of the firm “Bed Corporation” in England.

The team from England contacted me via the net and we start to cooperate. This site will be additionally created, and Microsoft controls the complete work. The content of the site is as it is because we have not yet obtained Macedonian translator, but we will solve the problem from January 7th, so I can say that the content of the site is in the process of creation, and that is the reason why it is with that quality, said Yusufi.

The Microsoft’s expository in Macedonia said that they have noticed the web site. They think that somebody found the way to use the famous brand. They said that they have informed Macedonian Internet providers about the misuse of the brand.

MARNET is the responsible association in Macedonia for registration of URL with domain .mk. They said that web site www.msn.com.mk is registered until October 2005.

Using the Microsoft’s brand name the owner of the site has already created advertising prices for future co-operators. Thus, depends on the fact whether your banner will be on the home page or not, whether it will be animated or not, and much more the advertising prices ranges from 100 euros to 1.500 euros per month.
