Macedonian president, Mr. Branko Crvenkovski opened the first regional authorised AVID/Softimage training centre at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Skopje. Training centre is intended for trainings on softimage-software for 3D modelling and computer animation for film and TV industry, postproduction and for interactive entertainment programmes industry. The training centre should provide professional education with exclusive approach to high technology. The software is proved to be successful in many block busters full of special effects such are Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars.

“I am convinced that very soon a cartoon, commercial, or parts of the Hollywood movies will be created by some of the participants of the training centre. The participants should be the pillars of the development of Macedonian digital entertainment industry in the future,” said Mr. Crvenkovski in his speech. He announced that in cooperation with USAID he is going to award 5 scholarships to the most talented participants.

Daniel Atanasovski, manager in Axis production, which is partner in foundation of the centre, said that the centre is the first of its kind on the Balkans.

“90 students will attend the first training. The training duration is from 3 to 6 months. The students will receive certificates and the best of the students are going to be employed in Axis production and will work on projects for foreign film companies,” said Atanasovski.
