Not a single tax form was issued by the municipalities in July because of the Public Revenue Office being unprepared to transfer the jurisdiction to local authorities, reported employees in municipalities’ financial offices.
“We thought that the Public Revenue Office would have met our needs after we had taken over their employees, but that was not the case. They have sent us the employees without any equipment. They are forced to fill in the information in forms manually in order to work,” said representatives of Demir Hisar municipality. This financial office issued only four tax forms this month. Local authorities issue forms for real estate tax and heritage tax, but not for property tax. Municipalities said that they need special software owned by the Public Revenue Office. “Public Revenue Office has not given us the software, yet. They said that they were working on it. We have started to issue tax forms in forst period of August,” said financial office representatives of Shtip municipality. Tax office in Gostivar does not function at all. “We do not have the necessary application that should be provided by the Public Revenue Office. Ask them why they are late,” said Nevzat Bejta, mayor of Gostivar. Tetovo municipality has also skipped July to collect local taxes. They have started to issue tax forms during last week. “We were waiting to obtain the software in both languages, in Macedonian and in Albanian. Everything is OK now. Tetovo municipality has signed a contract with smaller surrounding municipalities our office to issue forms for their citizens, too,” said from Tetovo municipality. Public Revenue Office said that pre-condition mayors to obtain the necessary base for issuing tax forms is to take over all the employees handed over by the Office. Several mayors, including the mayor of the City of Skopje refuse to take over the new employees arguing that they are just a burden for the municipality. (5184 hits/посети) |
