Finally, Macedonian MPs in September would have National Strategy for Development of Information Society and Action Plan on Parliaments agenda.

According to the Committee for Information Technology, a governmental body that prepared the Strategy, it is a document of great importance which in opinion of its patron, the president Crvenkovski, presents a strategy for overall development of the Republic of Macedonia.

Among the first tasks provided with the Strategy is adopting the Law on Information Society, while implementing electronic identity cards for all citizens, health care cards, digitalisation and presentation of historical, cultural and archaeological heritage of Macedonia are among the first projects.

People involved in preparation of the Strategy think that the countries that do not manage to implement modern information and communication technologies in their development remain in the zone of stagnation and are not able to keep the pace with the developed world.

President Branko Crvenkovski at the meeting with the representatives of the government Committee for Information Technology and working group that worked on the Strategy and Action Plan said that building information society is a base for overall development of the country.
