Macedonian Parliament has adopted the National Strategy for Development of Information Society. The primary objectives of the Strategy are liberalisation of the market and increased number of internet users in Macedonia.
In accordance with this document a Program for development information and communication technology in education is prepared. The Program predicts that the pupils will learn to be digitally literate from fourth grade in 2007 provided the proposal for nine-year schools is adopted. Macedonian president Branko Crvenkovski who is the patron of the Strategy is expected to officially promote the National Strategy for Deevlopment of Information Society on September 28, 2005. Dnevnik
