82% out of total number of 725 respondents of the Metamorphosis' online survey, said that the price (30 euro) required by MARNet for registration of .mk domain is too high, and only 3% considered it too low.
These are the results from our online survey conducted from December 4, 2003 to February 15, 2004. During this period the visitors of the site were able to vote for one of the offered alternatives, related to the price level and also to write their comments. In order to provide greater regularity and credibility of the results, the voting system was organized in a way that did not allowed to vote more than once from the same PC (according to IP number). The visitors of the site were asked whether this price, required by Marnet for registration of .mk domain, is high, low or reasonable. The results are as follows: The visitors could also leave their comments. One of them remarked:
“This is outrageous??! If you search the web, looking for sites for registration of domains, you will find that the annual price for domain on .com, .net, .org is no more than $10…” About MARNet MARNet (Macedonian Academic and Research Network) is the sole institution over which a Macedonian (.mk) domain can be registered. Starting from May 2003 its employees charge 30 euros per registration, claiming it's according to their new book of rules, even though it's not formally adopted. No public debate whatsoever took place regarding the new rules.
