Motorola Networked Macedonia with Wireless Internet
US company Motorola announced that it mounted equipment in Macedonia networking the country with wireless broadband internet.
The Motorola’s equipment is purchased in the realms of the project funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science. The project was implemented by the internet provider On.net. 350 primary and 100 secondary schools, and about 1.000 companies are connected to the wireless broadband. Macedonia is considered to be the first country in the world with complete wireless broadband coverage with 95% of the population covered.
Parties involved in the project think that networking the schools results in complete coverage of the country that will have substantial influence on Macedonian economy. Internet provider On.net will offer to Macedonian citizens high-speed, quality, and cheap internet access, both in the urban and in the rural areas.
