About 500 On.net internet users lost their internet connection because the cable TV Telekabel disconnected the signal that was transferred via their cable network.

Internet provider On.net said that they do not know the reasons why they cannot longer use Telekabel’s network although they have signed contracts with the users. For the one-sided action of the cable TV On.net plead for intervention from the Agency for electronic communications and Competition protection office.

Stevo Momirovski, Telekabel’s director said that from now on the users will connect to the internet via the cable TV. The current users that have signed contracts with On.net would not have to pay installation and modem fees since they have already paid to On.net. In addition, these users can surf whole month for free.

“When I have noticed that I am not connected, I called On.net and they have told me that Telekabel has decided to disconnect our internet and to take all the users. I cannot understand how they can disconnect my connection with On.net without asking me. I will choose my internet provider. I have no information about the quality or the price of the service offered by Telekabel,” said a cable internet user.

Predrag Chemerikic, director of On.net, announced resolving the issue in Macedonian courts if an agreement with the cable provider is not reached.

“Telekabel stole our users without any notice. We have contracts with the citizens and we have installed modems in their homes. We have warned the cable TV that we are going to sue. Damage has been caused from unannounced disconnection of the internet access. Users are calling asking us to continue to provide internet to them. We are explaining the situation why we cannot use the Telekabel’s network. We will ask institutions in charge to intervene,” said Chemerikic.

Telekabel said that they do not know that On.net has signed contracts with the cable internet users stating that the modems are their property.

“We invite the users to come to our premises and to sign contracts for cable internet. They will not be charged 3.000 to 4.000 denars for installation and the modem. Users that are going to sign the contracts by February 1st, are free from paying the fee for January,” said Momirovski.
