Citizens will not have cheaper telephone calls with the defined interconnection price for connection with the Telecoms’s network, said the candidate-companies for fixed telephony operators.
They think that with the interconnection price they will not be able to compete with Makedonski Telekomunikacii and ask for decrease of the price. According to their estimations, the most beneficial for them will be only the international calls service. With these interconnection prices they will have great expenses in domestic traffic that will make the price of their impulse higher than the price offered by Telecom.
Anatolij Veljanovski of Netplus also thinks that the interconnection prices are too high and do not offer chance for competition.
“End users should benefit from the liberalisation of the telecommunications market, with lower prices and more services. In this way the Telecom monopoly is extended,” said Veljanovski.
"With the current conditions we are not interested in signing interconnection agreement. We will offer only international calls that will not go through Telecom’s network,” said Aleksandar Domovski, Megaline.
Future fixed operators think that they should build their own network and to attract as many users as possible in order to force Telecom to decrease the price.
“We cannot offer prices to attract users to connect to our network. Local calls will be more expensive than Telecom’s,” said Marijan Grijakovikj - Gjurovski, Nexttel.
Agency for electronic communications with few months delay approves the interconnection prices of the Telecom’s reference interconnection offer. Telecom lodged a complaint saying that the Agency unjustifiably decreased their prices from 30% to 40%.
