Digital Clubhouses

Twelve digital clubhouses have been opened in the Republic of Macedonia so far within the frames of the Digital Clubhouses project, which is being implemented by the Metamorphosis Foundation for several years now.

The Digital Clubhouses offer various activities and services including access to ICT for the members of the community with the aim of supporting their social and economic development.
Digital Clubhouses mission is to provide education, access to e-databases, use of e-services and creating awareness for information technology and democracy, as well as promotion of methodologies and ideas that will help in enhancing the spreading of ICT among the people regardless of age and origin.

DC Kamenjane 

Digital clubhouse Kamenjane is located on the main street in the village Kamenjane, Tetovo region. This clubhouse has 7 PCs, a printer and a scanner. The digital clubhouse offers the following services:

• Windows XP, WordPad, Microsoft Word and Internet courses
• Internet access (surfing and e-mail)
• Printing
• Scanning
• PC games

DC Rankovce

Digital clubhouse Rankovce is located in the village Rankovce, between Kratovo and Kriva Palanka. Digital clubhouse is located near the primary school and apart from the villagers of Rankovce, the digital clubhouse is regularly visited by the villagers from the neighbouring villages (Petralica, Vetunica, Opila, Ginovce, Radibush, Psacha, Otoshnica and Ljubince).
The digital clubhouse has 4 PCs, a printer and a scanner and offers the following services:

• Basic computer skills courses (Microsoft Office)
• Scanning
• Printing
• PC games
• Internet access (surfing and e-mail)

DC Samokov

Digital clubhouse is located in the village Samokov, 60 km north-east from Kichevo. It has 7 PCs, a printer and a scanner.
The regular visitors are the children and the youth from Samokov that use the following services offered by the digital clubhouse:

• Internet access (surfing and e-mail)
• Working with Word, Excel and Power Point
• Printing
• Scanning
• PC games
  

DC Vrama Si

This digital clubhouse is located in the Roma educational centre “Vrama Si” in the impoverished Roma settlement Pero Chicho in Kumanovo. The digital clubhouse is visited by children and youth from the settlement and from the neighbouring settlements to learn the basic computer skills. They attend courses on Word and Excel, as well as Internet browsing, and they use the PCs for surfing, e-mail, printing and scanning.
The digital clubhouse has 7 PCs, a printer and a scanner.

DC Sasa

DC Sasa is located in the village of Sasa which is 10 kilometres from Makedonska Kamenica. The clubhouse is located in the center of the village, next to the school and in the same building with the infirmary.  Working hours: 11:00-20:00.

The DC is currently offering the following services:

• Basic computer skills courses (Word, Excel, Internet)
• Scanning
• Printing
• PC games (gaming tournaments are often organized)

The clubhouse will have internet access starting from the 1st of November 2007.

DC Konopnica

DC Konopnica is located in the center of the village of Konopnica, several kilometres from Kriva Palanka, right next to the school. Konopnica has a population of 3.500, and currently 120 children are enrolled in the school.
DC Konopnica is offering the following services:

• Computer use, scanning, printing
• Internet access
• Training for the citizens on using ICT equipment as well as training for advanced programs as an opportunity for self-employment
  

The clubhouse has an average of 170 users daily, and 33 persons have been trained in basic use of computer technology (Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet) within a three-month period. Presently, 4 months after the clubhouse was opened, 11 more persons are being trained, a draft design has been prepared for the web site of the digital clubhouses in Macedonia and the first entertaining portal of Kriva Palanka is being prepared.

DC Slatina

DC Slatina is located at the entrance of the village of Slatina, right next to the elementary school. The following services can be used there:

• Computer use, scanning, printing
• Internet access
• Basic computer skills courses (Word, Excel, Windows, Internet)
• Advanced computer training courses for Word, Excel, Access, as well as design programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, NVU, CSS, HTML and XHTML
  

Twenty residents of Slatina and the surrounding villages have been trained in the clubhouse in the three months since it was opened, and free courses for web design are planned for the members of the organization Millennium that manages the club.

DC Albatrosi

DC Albatrosi is located in the school building in the village of Prshovce. Since the village of Prshovce is adjacent to the village of Glogje, the club is equally used by the residents of both villages. The following services can be used in this digital clubhouse:

• Computer use, scanning, printing
• Photocopying
• Internet access
• Basic computer skills courses (Word, Excel, Windows, Internet)
  

The services of this clubhouse are used on a daily basis by the students and the employees from the school in the period between 9 am and 3 pm, while the members of the NGOs and other legal entities from these populated areas can use the clubhouse from 3 to 5 pm. After 5 pm, and until 10 pm the clubhouse is open for all the residents and the services are charged 30 denars per hour.

The web site www.pershefca.net was created by the activists of this clubhouse, where one can find various information about the events related to the people from Prshovce, the nongovernmental organizations, legal entities and firms working there.

DC Prilep

The Digital Clubhouse Prilep is located in the City Library “Borka Taleski” in the centre of Prilep. The club started working at the and of October 2007 and it is currently offering the following services:

• Computer use, scanning, printing
• Internet access
• Free computer skills courses (Word, Excel, Windows, Internet)
  

The club is open every workday from 10:00 to 18:00.

DC Melnica

This Digital Clubhouse is located in the village of Melnica, municipality of Chashka, at about ten kilometres from the Chashka settlement. This is a membership-based club and it currently has ten members. The members of the club are using the computer equipment (computers, scanner and printer) for developing their skills in using ICT.
Working hours: 08:00-12:00. The club also provides basic computer skills courses (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for the interested members.

DC Chashka

This Digital Clubhouse is located in the center of the settlement, near the municipal office. It is also a membership-based club, and has 15 members. However, from time to time there are also occasional visitors that use its services. Working hours: 14:00-20:00.

The Digital Clubhouse is currently offering the following services:

• Internet access
• Computer use, scanning, printing
• PC games
• Basic computer skills courses (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

DC Resen

The Digital Clubhouse - Resen is located in the building of the House of Culture “Dragi Tozija”. The City Library is also located here.
