Telekom Slovenije paid about 5.7 million euros to acquire 76% of ISP On.Net shares, announced Bojan Dremelj, the president of the management board of Telekom Slovenije, on the occasion of signing the acquisition agreement that announced official entering of Telekom Slovenije in Macedonian telecommunication market.
Telekom Slovenije, company with 75% shares owned by the Slovenian government, paid about 4.7 million euros for 60% of On.Net’s shares owned by SEAF investment fund and about 1 million euros to further capitalisation of the company. Answering the journalist’s question Dremelj said that hot topic in Slovenia is forthcoming privatisation of Telekom Slovenije and added that the buyer of this highly-profitable company has not been announced yet.
Predrag Chemerikic, On.Net’s director said that the company expect to become leading alternative provider in fixed telephony. He expects On.Net and Makedonski Telekomunikacii to sign interconnection agreement within 90 days and added that the users will have another choice for local and international calls in fixed telephony. Dremelj and Chemerikic announced that On.Net will offer new services, internet TV among others. They said that Telekom Slovenije will not change On.Net’s name and that there will new employments in the company.
Vladimir Peshevski, SEAF’s director, thinks that after a year-long negotiations, this agreement presents important foreign investment in Macedonia that will contribute to liberalisation of the Macedonian telecommunication market.
Six years ago we have invested in a small team with vision for big business. We have fought monopoly, administrative and market barriers and during the process we have elevated On.Net as a leader in implementing new technologies and innovations. Macedonia is known as wireless internet country. We give our shares to renowned foreign investor with great experience and knowledge, and we believe that they will bring even greater development in On.Net and will enhance market competition.
On.Net is a company with about seventy employees and covers 40% of Macedonian business sector with internet. Last year On.Net revenues were about 4 million dollars.
