Macedonia awarded for the computerisation and wireless networking of the schools
Minister of education and science, Azis Polozhani, announced that the Ministry has received the IT Excellence 2006 award by the US based World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA). The award was given in the Digital perspective category for the “Macedonia – the first wireless country” project.
According to the minister Polozhani all primary and secondary schools in Macedonia are equipped with computers but he is concerned over the insufficient internet penetration which is very unsatisfactory. The Minister announced that the ministry is planning to provide internet access in the student homes despite the fact that there are no funds predicted for that purpose in the budget.
