Parliament Elected Ivo ivanovski for a Minister Without Portfolio in Charge of Information Society Print E-mail

Today, the Parliament elected M.A. Ivo Ivanovski for a minister without portfolio in charge of information society with 67 votes in favor.

In his address to the parliament representatives, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski presented a number of arguments in favor of the election and explained the importance of his work for Macedonia. According to him, activities of the minister without portfolio in charge of information technology will make a significant contribution in realization of these projects.

The Government, as the Prime Minister mentioned, will invest in information technology in order to make Macedonia and its citizens closer to modern information technologies in Europe. “It is hard to imagine starting any kind of business without computer skills and Internet services,” added Gruevski.

The Prime Minister said that the Government was planning introduction of compulsory computer science subject in primary education and complete computerization of schools…

In this respect, Gruevski said that the Government would carry out “A computer for each student” project. For that purpose, about 20 million euro will be provided in several phases and about 150,000 computers for students in primary and secondary education would be purchased. At the same time opening of a private IT faculty will be initiated.

M.A. Ivo Ivanovski comes from Columbus, USA, and so far has been IT Manager of the Plaskolite Company, one of the biggest private Plexiglas producers in the world. Also, he is an advisor to the VMRO-DPMNE President on matters related to information society and economy.
