On.Net New Operator in Fixed Telephony in Macedonia
Internet service provider On.Net started to offer fixed telephony service. Company’s managers announced that firstly they will offer national and international calls and calls to mobile networks. For local calls they will wait for Makedonski Teleomunikacii to decrease the interconnection prices, as imposed by the Agency for Electronic Communications. Chief executive director Predrag Chemerikic explained that On.Net prices for local calls would be 50% more expensive than MT’s with the current interconnection prices.
“One minute local call would cost 1,5 denars, while the national calls will have great discounts,” said Chemerikic.
He added that they will announce the prices after MT will announce new cheaper interconnection prices. Then On.Net will start signing commercial contracts with citizens and companies.
Chemerikic did not exclude the possibility On.Net to offer services in mobile telephony, not via its own network but to use the current network of other operator.
