FOSIM’s Month of the Open Society

This year the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia (FOSIM) is celebrating 15 years of its establishment and operation. FOSIM will celebrate its anniversary in a working atmosphere i.e. by organizing a variety of events such as debates, promotions, exhibitions and conferences during November, 2007 - The Month of the Open Society.

The Foundation was established by George Soros in October 1992, as an international legal entity representative office with the same core mission as today – promotion of the open society concept in Macedonia. Although FOSIM’s mission evolved since then with different formulations and adjustments to the spirit of the time, our philosophy remained unchanged. Through all its programs, FOSIM promotes civil society, and together with its partners and numerous nongovernmental organizations, FOSIM contributes to the internal integration of Macedonia as a prerequisite for EU integration. In 1999, FOSIM registered as national legal person in accordance with the Law on Citizens’ Associations and Foundations.
