Starting from July 1st, AD Makedonski Telekomunikacii will double the price of the fixed telephony conversations that last longer than 1 minute and 20 seconds. By doing this, they expect to increase their income for 22 million euros and claim that it will not affect the living standard of the Macedonian citizens.

Until now, the charging of the fixed telephone conversations was on every 3 minutes. The Board of Directors of AD Makedonski Telekomunikacii decided, starting from July 1st, to charge the conversations on every 20 seconds. Thus, the 3 minute conversation that now costs 1, 38, in the future will cost 2, 97 denars. The only exeption are the conversations that last less than 1 minute and 20 seconds. This category will become cheaper. The current price for 20 seconds conversation is 1, 38 denars and in the future the same service will cost 0, 33 denars.

The cost of the telephone impulse is 0, 33 denars, and one impulse is 20 seconds long. The new charging model implies multiple rising of the prices for longer conversations. In the future we will pay 5, 94 denars for conversation the lasts 6 minutes instead of 2, 76 denars that we pay now for a conversation with the same duration. The 12 minutes conversation will cost 11, 80 denars instead of 5, 52 denars. This will mostly affect the firms, the Internet users and the people that practice longer telephone conversations.
