All the students enrolled in the final year of studies at the state and private universities in Macedonia will get a voucher of 200 euros from the state for buying a computer, yesterday announced the Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski at a press conference.

The procedure will be simple. The vouchers that will be prepared by the Ministry of Finance can be withdrawn from the faculties, and the only proof that the students should submit is a student’s record booklet to confirm that they are enrolled in the final year. The single aid will be regulated with the draft-law which the Government urgently passed and which is submitted to the Parliament. The production of 10.000 vouchers is regulated with this law, and this is the number of students that enrolled the final year, according to the Ministry of Education.
The total value of the vouchers for purchasing computers is 2 million euros, money that will be provided from the state budget. The students will be able to purchase computers with the vouchers in any computer store which is issuing fiscal receipts, until the 15th of December at the latest. They will even be able to additionally pay more than the value of the voucher if they want to buy a more modern computer.

The twenty first century is a century of digital literacy, Internet and global networking. We must prevent an increase of the digital divide between Macedonia and the world economies. With this law the vision of the Government “Macedonia – Country of Computer Experts” continues, Gruevski said.
If some vouchers remain unused they will be annulled by commissions of the Interior Ministry and Finance Ministry aimed at preventing their misuse.
