The third mobile telephony operator “VIP”, a member of the Mobilkom Austria group, starts working today with a promotional prepaid-tariff of 9,09 denars/minute throughout the whole day towards all the mobile and fixed telephony networks.
Having signed an agreement for national roaming with “T-mobile” in order to use their network, VIP’s signal will cover the whole territory of Macedonia. The signal of the new mobile telephony operator will be available starting from today at noon, when six centres of “VIP” will be opened and more than 2000 outlets throughout the whole country.
The operator with a calling code 077 will be offering a free SIM-card, i.e. the user will pay 200 denars for the SIM card, and get 200 denars of credit. The vouchers for adding credit will be sold for 100, 300, 700 and 1.200 denars. According to the announcements of “VIP”, the post-paid service should be launched until the end of this year.
The offered tariff is 51 percent cheaper on the average than the existing tariffs and as much as 71 percent cheaper than the most expensive pre-paid offers. The research of “Mobilkom Austria” indicated that the 12% annual rate of growth of new users in Macedonia is among the lowest in Europe, while the price of 33 cents per minute is among the highest – stated Mladen Pejkovic, the chief executive director of “VIP”.
Boris Nemshic, chief executive director “Telekom Austria” and “Mobilkom Austria” is proud that they have kept the promises they have made to the Macedonian citizens.
“We invested 10 million euros for the license and additional 50 million in the network, services, contact points and sales network. We have already employed 120 Macedonian experts”– said Nemshic.
