A digital storytelling workshop was held in the city of Caen, Basse Normandie (February 9-11) on the topic of: “How am I contributing to the promotion of my community?” The three-day workshop brought together representatives of the digital clubhouses in the region, who will be applying the methodology for digital storytelling in their work in the future. The free software Audacity was used for audio processing, and photographs and images were selected from the Creative Commons website and then processed in a time limited version of Photoshop Elements. This application was chosen because of its good user interface, many options that are simple to use, and to allow participants to familiarize themselves with software that they had not previously used in their work. The videos were being edited in Windows Movie Maker. Ten participants registered for the training, out of which 9 attended the first day of the training, and the 6 animators who participated have successfully completed their digital stories. All of the digital stories are in French, and are to be translated into Macedonian and English in order to reach out to a wider audience. The training was conducted by Irina Shumadieva and Elena Ignatova in English, and one of the participants was interpreting into French. Update: transcription and translation of digital stories in Macedonian language are available here.
